As graduation rounds the corner, I am brought back to this blog to remind myself what it is I really enjoy and spend the time to share that with others. It has been four long years at Parsons The New School and I will be free to live life past the confinements of a classroom for the first time in four years. That means new experiences are on the horizon and I'm excited to share my findings and revelations with anyone who is interested.
This blog will not only showcase quality made fashion that is at the forefront, but also music, entertainment, events, and creative individuals. In short, this blog will be about all things good and happening.
Hope you enjoy.

This season menswear in Paris was interesting, or at least the production of the shows were interesting. Some of the collections seemed disconnected as the men walked by, with the exception of a few.
However, I need to touch on the Adam Kimmel "casino" show, how fun was that!!! I'm not talking about the boys in front of the white screen as they are presented on GQ.com, but the actual show of the models in the amazing masks, fantastic classic yet twisted clothing, gambling and acting on as old clowny men... how whimsy! Loved the images, wish I could have been there...

Feel that Grandpa Style isn't current with street culture? Could be a problem if it wasn't for the guys at Brooklyn Circus... not the one where people flip in the air and land in fire or walk the tight rope with a woman on their shoulders. No, we are talking about some fresh clothing with a hint of the nostalgia that makes us remember our elders. Check it out... http://thebkcircus.com/bkc/

I've been meaning to blog about Arne and Carlos for some time. As two guys of Norwegian and Scandinavian origins, they have some serious quality style. I can say quality respectively because half the collection is handmade and all of it is designed and made from age old techniques. What does this mean??? They are truly worthy to be Grandpa Style. This is a preview for their upcoming collection at http://www.arne-carlos.com/ !

Appologies, my semester has commenced and I am now figuring out the balance. Here is a fantastic photographer who does style profiles here in New York. So many attractive interesting people : http://backyardbill.blogspot.com. I realize I have a few flaws in the layout of my blog, ie. no previous blog link, but this weekend is time to catch up. Thanks!

Got this sent to me by a friend, it's a fashion profile from nymag.com. Grandma style!
Fashion Profile on Margaret Bold
How long have you been retired?
Oh, since 1989. I took an early retirement from AIG because my back was bothering me. No company is perfect—they all do things to save themselves—but it was a great company while I was there. Where do you live?
I was born and raised in Staten Island and have lived here all my life. It’s not my Staten Island anymore, but I still love it. Do you have any hobbies?
Yes, I write poetry. I have two poems in a contest right now. I once won honorable mention for a poem I wrote about the Statue of Liberty. Can you recite a few lines for me?
“There she stands in the harbor with her head held high / Holding her torch like a star in the sky / All are welcome, your new home, and we’ll give you a hand / All we want in return is your love of our land.” That’s beautiful!
I can’t believe I wrote it, it’s that good.

Time to get our Grandpa/Grandma sweater on! Here is the pick for today but I will be on the constant look out to find the best out there. After-all, Grandpa Style cannot be defined properly without homage to the cardigan where it all started.
The Bless Extended knit I found on the-v-store.com is incredibly unique. Can be worn a few ways but heres three aspects, though I suggest you check it out to get the full extent. Handmade in Germany, mohair knit cardigan, definitely valid grandpa style.

Finally! A watch that is a phone! I've been feining for one of these ever since getting addicted to the show Chuck (nbc Mondays 8/7c).
Only available in the UK currently, this new LG phone 'Orange' will hopefully pave the way for other companies to make watch phones also. Here are some watches I wish had this function currently, hint these companies should look into collaborating to create the perfect accessory.

Here are some shoe companies I believe have what it takes to be Grandpa Style. Well crafted, handmade in Italy of high quality materials. These shoes will not only impress, they will stand the test of time.
1.Mr Hare: Shoes are modern, handmade and well thought out. Inspired by all things that are good, these shoes are beauties. www.mrhare.co.uk

2.Bontoni: Clearly a superior shoe. Impeccably stylish and worth every penny. www.Bontoni.com

3.De Tommaso: Still based on the art of shoe making in Italy, some of these shoes are incredibly unique. www.detommaso.it

4. Salvatore Ferragamo: This wouldn't be a post about quality made shoes without Salvatore Ferragamo being mentioned. They have stayed on top of shoe fashion since the 1920's and still maintain quality. www.salvatoreferragamo.com

5. Common Projects: A new favorite of mine who recently designed shoes for Patrik Ervell: Fall 2009. From Grandpa Style shoes to hightops with attention to detail, these shoes are fantastic. www.commonprojects.com
Feel free to leave me a comment if I've left a company out that is worth mentioning.
